I discovered a cool website this week called Wordle. It’s a simple little program that creates ‘word clouds’ based on whatever text you choose to enter. When the word cloud is created, you can see what words you used most.
I decided to be brave and enter full sermons into Wordle. It’s a fun and unbiased way of discovering what I really talked about. Or is it? Behold, Wordled Sermons.
Sermon #1 — “Peace”– From a recent series on the Fruits of the Spirit
Sermon #2 — “Can You Lose Your Salvation?”– From a recent series called Big Bad Questions
Sermon #3 — “The Kingdom of God”– From over a year ago — not part of a series

Sermon #4 — “Heaven”– From a recent series called Big Bad Questions
For the most part, I was fairly pleased with my results. It seems like I stuck to my topics quite closely. Some odd discoveries, though. The word ‘like’ was my most-used word in the heaven sermon? Like, I totally like, don’t believe it. And why was the word ’slide’ so popular in sermon #2? I don’t recall using the word at all, not even with ‘back’ in front of it. Weird.
I’d like to Wordle a typical day in the Brewer household next. I guarantee you’d see some great words, like ‘poop’ and ‘noooo!’ and ‘poop’.
